Restoration of the "Yellow Stairs" in the Munich Residence

On November 6, 2017, film records for the TV-show "Schwaben & Altbayern" of Bayerischer Rundfunk took place in our factory in Oberau. This was broadcasted on Sunday the 12.11.2017 at 5:45 pm and is now available in the BR-Mediatheque.

The TV-show includes the restoration of the "Yellow Stairs" in the Munich Residence. Around 1830, King Ludwig I. commissioned the "Yellow Stairs" from the architect Leo von Klenze. It should be a magnificent staircase to the royal apartments. During World War II, the Wittelsbach Castle fell victim to a bombing raid in 1944 and was partially damaged considerably. In the post-war period, the Antiquarium was quickly and effectively rebuilt to protect its antiquarian heritage. In the 70s the stairs were also rebuilt in the style of the 70s. Meanwhile, the castle is extensively restored and is considered a prime example of the historical reconstruction of a building. The "Yellow Stairs" will also shine in its original historical splendor. Kelheimer Naturstein is very happy that the company is part of such a special project.
